Welcome to The University of Arizona Bassoon Studio Website!
The bassoon studio at The University of Arizona is active at the School of Music and in the Southern Arizona region. In addition to performing in large ensembles, in chamber music activities and in solo performances at the University of Arizona, students also regularly participate in activities in the Tucson musical community. The studio is diverse and includes a range of players from DMA candidates in bassoon performance to undergraduate non-majors who continue to study and perform as they work towards degrees in other disciplines. Students benefit from weekly individualized lessons and personal attention that are tailored to their unique needs and career goals. The bassoon studio is a supportive environment where students have the social support to encourage each other in personal growth and development. In addition to weekly lessons and studio classes, there are an abundance of performance and workshop opportunities. Professional guest artists visit regularly to give masterclasses, an annual Double Reed Day is hosted on campus bringing in vendors and clinicians from around the world covering topics such as career development, reed making, orchestral repertoire, entrepreneurship, new music, and performance anxiety. Students are encouraged to be creative, goal-oriented, and collaborative. They also have the opportunity of attending many live performances and working with many world-class faculty and guest artists, as well as access to a state-of-the-art recording studio. http://bassoon.music.arizona.edu/ Graduates of the studio are found in performing and teaching positions around the country and abroad.
